The family dogs

My three dogs having a nap while I am working on the portrait.

On your left we got Clark, a mix of podenco ibicenco and bull terrier we guess, founded abandoned on a highway in Madrid, the black one is Sara a founded in a abandoned warehouse, and Yaya a Spanish greyhound founded on Madrid streets by an Argentinean couple.

1st layer in burnt umber

I spend approximately 3 hours doing the first layer in Burnt umber, the main objective was to establish all the shadows and restate the overall design.Burnt umber was chosen because it’s a very fast drying pigment, allowing me to paint tomorrow morning the next layer without disturbing this one.

Antonimo Diary

Hi everybody,
First of all I would like to present my self, I am a Portuguese artist working and living in Madrid, who’s main concern is to have a good time.

My work plays usually Cynical Realism, but because I just follow my feelings and interests, I avoid to be inside any tag, so one day it could be an abstract expressionism work, the next day it
could be a pop art painting and so one, it depends on the mood.

I am attaching photos of three works that I am working on, the first two we can include in what is called cynical realism and the last one a family portrait.

Osama Loves Love, is waiting that the second layer dries completely, so I can start the third and last layer.
Globalization had initially 3 bullfighters on the right side and the public on top, but my girlfriend just hated it, so following her advise I removed them from the picture, I add the coca bottles and the Cadillac, but I have not decided on the final composition, I am now working backwards´.
The last I just started it, it’s a portrait of my mother in law and my nephew(grandma and grandson), must have it ready for mother’s day on may the fourth.I am using a canvas with universal imprimation (oil/acrylic). I give it one additional acrylic gesso layer from Golden products, then I have done a graphite sketch, and on top of it a layer of golden matte medium mixed with water and golden acrylic raw sienna, to prevent oil pigment sinking on the canvas.
When I leave to wash the used brush, my Spanish greyhound named yaya decided to step on it, as you can see.
Now I am going to start the next layer with a wash, using old Holland burnt sienna diluted with about 8 parts sansodor (odourless turpentine) and 2 parts liquin.
